Blotter: bike stolen, student passes out

Bike stolen from Kappa on Monday morning

A Northwestern student reported a bicycle stolen from Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority 1871 Orrington Ave. on Monday morning police said.

The bike, worth more than $300, was secured with a U-shaped lock on the front wheel at 3 p.m. on Sunday, and was still secured at 1 a.m. the following day. The student discovered the bike was missing at 10 a.m., University Police Deputy Chief Dan McAleer said.

Althougha bike lock was used, the student said she believes the bike may not have been secured correctly because of a rain storm at the time. A serial number has been provided for police tracking purposes, McAleer said.

Student passes out on stairs of Pick-Staiger

University Police responded to a call from Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, 50 Arts Circle Drive, at 12:53 p.m. on Monday, where a female NU student passed out.

The student was walking down the stairs inside the concert hall when she lost consciousness, although witnesses said she did not hit her head.

The student reported feeling light-headed and dehydrated, and mentioned similar incidents had occurred before, McAleer said. He reported that she declined transport to the hospital.
