New suspect arrested for 7-month-old case of Skokie resident murder

An Evanston man was arrested in connection with a September shooting Tuesday, according to the Evanston Police Department.

Aaron Jerome Terrell, 23, was the second suspect arrested in the south Evanston shooting of a 27-year-old Skokie man Sept. 18, the release said. Terrell was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. Troy Randle, 18, was arrested March 28, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Terrell is being held on a $1 million bond, the release said.

Terrell’s arrest came after a seven-month investigation. After police responded to calls that shots were fired, they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds on Case Street. The police conducted interviews and eventually identified Terrell as a person of interest, according to the release.

Since the victim has several criminal convictions, including seven for drug violations, police said in September they suspected the shooting was drug-related.
