Searle works to address student complaints

His student body president campaign posters joked, “Searle told me I was pregnant too.” But Weinberg junior Prajwal Ciryam’s humorous slogan underlined a serious message: A popular perception that Searle Student Health Service is inadequate.

Anecdotal allegations of misdiagnosis and poor treatment abound. But officials say there is no evidence of a widespread problem at the health center that serves Northwestern students, staff and faculty members.

Searle admittedly has flaws, and university officials say they are addressing them. The Evanston facilities will be redesigned in the next few months to guarantee privacy and improve staff efficiency. The last few years have brought improvements to Women’s Health and services on the Chicago Campus — areas identified as problematic several years ago.
