Evanston will serve free cold breakfasts and lunches on weekdays to children and teens ages 1 to 18 beginning this Monday.
The meals will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis at locations across the city through Aug. 14. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be no service June 19 and July 3.
The program has no residency or income-based restrictions. Parents must accompany young children, and free meals must be eaten on site.
Meals will be served at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center at 1655 Foster St., Robert Crown Community Center at 1801 Main St. and Dawes Elementary School at 440 Dodge Ave.
Lincolnwood Elementary School at 2600 Colfax St. and Dewey Elementary School at 1551 Wesley Ave. will also offer free meals beginning Wednesday.
Menus are available on the city’s website and on site at each location. Evanston’s Summer Food Program is funded by a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education.
