In the first-ever lacrosse Final Four hosted outside of the Eastern time zone, Northwestern notched a 16-11 victory over Johns Hopkins Friday afternoon in the NCAA tournament semifinals at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium. Although the Wildcats’ (19-3, 7-1 Big Ten) seven-point lead at halftime seemed to shrink in the third quarter, they returned to match the Blue Jays (17-5, 6-2 Big Ten) goal for goal in the fourth frame.
In Sunday’s championship game, the ’Cats beat No. 2-seeded North Carolina 14-11, winning their ninth national title.
