Northwestern men’s basketball lost 79-68 against No. 13 Illinois in a Big Ten match-up Wednesday evening. The game marks the Wildcats’ (8-9, 0-6 Big Ten) fourth loss in a row. Junior guard Jayden Reid scored a career-high 28 points despite not starting for the first time this season, but despite that and the ’Cats gaining an early 9-6 lead, Illinois entered halftime leading 38-33 and stayed ahead the rest of the game. The loss to the Fighting Illini (15-3, 6-1 Big Ten) extended the Wildcats’ streak of winless conference play to six games.
