A Chicago man was arrested Monday in connection with cannabis possession.

Police stopped the 28-year-old man near the intersection of Dempster Street and Dodge Avenue for driving with an expired registration, Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said. The man’s registration expired last June.

The officer detected an odor of burnt cannabis coming from the car when they came up to the driver, Glew said. Police searched the vehicle and recovered 29 grams of cannabis.

The man was charged with cannabis possession.

Van stolen from warehouse

A man reported to police Wednesday that his van was stolen from a north Evanston warehouse.

The 51-year-old Evanston man left his GMC Savana in a locked warehouse in the 2500 block of Ashland Avenue for about three weeks, Glew said. The van was unlocked and the keys were inside the vehicle.

Police have not yet identified a suspect.
