Journalists Rachel Nichols (Medill ’95) and Sheinelle Jones (Medill ’00) will speak as part of the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications’ commencement ceremonies, the school announced Wednesday.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sheinelle and Rachel back to campus to speak to our graduates this year,” Medill Dean Brad Hamm said in a news release. “Both have actively supported our students with career advice, visits to campus and opening their workplaces to visiting Medill students. Their exemplary careers will inspire our newest alumni as they begin their own careers.”

Nichols is the host of “The Jump,” a daily show on ESPN focused on the NBA. She’s also a contributor to other ESPN programming including “SportsCenter” and “Outside the Lines.” She previously worked for Turner Sports.

Jones works as a co-anchor of NBC’s “Weekend TODAY” and also contributes to “TODAY” and “MSNBC Live.” Before joining NBC, she was the co-host of “Good Day Philadelphia” on FOX.

In the release, Nichols said she was excited for the opportunity to speak at Northwestern.

“To call my time at Northwestern ‘formative’ would be a colossal understatement — it shaped so much of the journalist, and the person, I’ve turned out to be,” she said. “I’m so thrilled to have the chance to come back and be even a small part of that same experience for this year’s graduating class.”
