Blotter: Evanston resident’s car tires taken from driveway

A 57-year-old Evanston man said he found his car sitting on pavers, missing its tires and wheels Tuesday morning.

The man said he saw the car in his driveway in the 700 block of Wesley Avenue with the tires at 11 p.m. Monday but woke up and noticed they were gone around 9:30 a.m. the next morning. The man reported that the four tires are valued at $2,000, said Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew.

There were no surveillance cameras and police do not have any suspects.

Evanston woman reports home burglary

An Evanston resident reported a burglary from her home near Northwestern on Tuesday.

The 57-year-old woman said she was asleep in the 800 block of Colfax Street when someone entered her home and took a wallet, purse and backpack that contained credit cards and money. Glew said there were no signs of forced entry and the woman said she and her husband forgot to secure the door.

She told police the theft occurred sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Glew said. The woman reported the theft that day.

Police do not have any suspects.
