Blotter: Ten bottles of alcohol stolen from Jewel-Osco in south Evanston

A man stole 10 bottles of Jack Daniel’s whiskey from Jewel-Osco in south Evanston early Friday morning.

A 40-year-old male who works at the grocery store reported the theft to police at 2:25 a.m., Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said. He told police he saw the suspect in the alcohol aisle of the store in the 2400 block of Howard Street.

The suspect put at least 10 bottles of Jack Daniel’s whiskey in a grocery bag and fled on foot. When the employee attempted to follow the suspect, the man got into a vehicle waiting outside, Glew said. The vehicle fled east on Howard with approximately $200 worth of alcohol.

The man has not been identified.

License plate stolen near Evanston Hospital

A license plate was stolen from an Evanston Hospital employee’s vehicle Wednesday.

A 52-year-old woman left her car parked in the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m, Glew said. When she returned to the lot, she reported to police her license plate was missing.

There are no suspects.
