Blotter: Four bottles of liquor stolen from Jewel-Osco in south Evanston

A man stole $150 worth of liquor from the Jewel-Osco in south Evanston early Friday morning, police said.

A security guard observed the suspect take four bottles of liquor from the store — located in the 2400 block of Howard Street — around 6 a.m., Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said. The guard asked the man to stop at the exit, but was ignored.

The man fled into Chicago with a bottle of Tanqueray Gin and three bottles of Bombay Gin, Glew said, and has not yet been identified.

Purse stolen at church

A 62-year-old woman reported her purse was stolen at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1509 Ridge Ave.

The woman set her purse down at the church and it was taken around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Glew said. The purse –– valued at $20 –– contained her wallet with two credit cards and $45 in cash. Charges were incurred on one of the cards.

There are no suspects.
