An Evanston woman was arrested early Saturday morning in north Evanston in connection with domestic battery.

Her boyfriend’s roommate called police to the 1500 block of Central Street when he was woken up around 3 a.m. by the sound of arguing in his apartment, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. He went into the living room and saw the woman hitting and kicking her boyfriend, who was on the couch.

According to the roommate, the woman’s boyfriend was covering himself so as not to be struck, but he did not strike her. Officers observed scrapes and scratch marks on the man’s neck and forehead.

The woman was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
