University Police arrest student in connection with domestic battery

University Police arrested a student earlier this month in connection with repeatedly slapping another student in McCulloch Hall.

The students, both male, were previously in a relationship before the incident happened, UP Deputy Chief Dan McAleer said. After midnight on Feb. 4, one student entered the other’s room in McCulloch, 2315 Sheridan Road, uninvited and ignored multiple requests to leave the room, McAleer said. The visiting student then slapped the other student about five times, police said.

The student who was slapped told officers he didn’t need medical attention. Officers arrived on the scene and charged the other student with domestic battery.

Graduate student reports harassment to police

A graduate student reported harassment to UP earlier this month after receiving repeated unwelcome phone calls and visits from a family member, police said.

The student reported the incident to police on Feb. 2 and told officers a relative visited him, called him repeatedly and met with his academic adviser without his consent, McAleer said. The relative did not make any threats.
