Attempted break-in to Evanston residence
Someone tried to break into an Evanston resident’s home between April 24 and 26, police said.
The 29-year-old resident lives in the 1100 block of Maple Avenue, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said. There were pry marks around the door, but no one the resident did not know entered the home.
Detectives are still investigating the case, but there are no suspects at this time, Parrott said.
Evanston teen escapes strong arm robbery
An Evanston teen narrowly escaped a robbery April 30, Parrott said.
The teen was walking home in the 2100 block of Mulford Street when three intoxicated men surrounded him and demanded he hand over his hat, money and cell phone, Parrott said.
The boy did not comply and fled the scene. The men chased him to the building where he lived and then gave up, Parrott said.
Police are still investigating the case, but it is unlikely to be solved if the teen cannot identify the men, Parrott said.
