Burglars take safe, garbage can from church
Unknown burglars took a garbage can and a safe from a Darrow Avenue church early Saturday morning.
The burglars removed a screen and entered through a window at St. Andrew’s Pentecost Episcopal Church, 1928 Darrow Ave., around 5 a.m. Saturday, Evanston Police Department spokesman Perry Polinski said. They stole a Rubbermaid 55-gallon garbage bin valued at $20. The 24-by-24-inch safe had $400 inside.
Aggravated assault at Evanston Hospital
Police responded to a report of a man with a gun at Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave., Friday evening.
A dispute between a man and a 24-year-old Evanston woman caused the man to threaten the woman and to allegedly display a handgun that was stored in his waistband. Either one or both of the persons involved works at the hospital, Polinski said. The woman is a friend of the man’s girlfriend. Police arrived at the hospital by 8:30 p.m., but the man had already left the scene.
