Someone took a bike in the 2000 block of Sheridan Road on Jan. 18, Polinski said.

The Evanston resident locked his $1,300 bike with a U-lock and left it alone for five minutes. When he returned, the bike was gone.

It is unknown how the thief took the bike from the lock, Polinski said.

Man charged with battery at automotive business

Police arrested a 40-year-old man and charged him with battery at Premier MotorWerks, 2494 Oakton St., on Tuesday afternoon, Polinski said.
