Evanston Police Department officers working in the N.E.T. Unit, a special operations group, on Monday arrested a local man for keeping a gun under his car seat.

Plainclothes officers stopped a vehicle in the 2400 block of Greenwood Avenue on Monday and arrested Brian Boynton, 22, according to an EPD news release issued Tuesday. Boynton kept a loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol under his seat.

Boynton was charged with aggravated unlawful use of weapons, a felony charge, in addition to a minor traffic violation. Police confiscated the pistol, according to the news release.
