Resident attempts to punch out EPD cruiser window
An Evanston resident was charged with aggravated assault early Saturday morning after repeatedly attempting to punch out the driver’s side window of an Evanston Police Department cruiser.
Police initially responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of Dobson Street and observed the 24-year-old fighting with another man “in the middle of the street,” Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.
The suspect fled on foot but was eventually taken into custody by EPD officers. While in the back seat of the police cruiser, the resident attempted to kick an officer, resulting in the aggravated assault charge.
He was also charged with disobedience to police in a public place and is scheduled to appear in court March 1.

The burglar opened the rear door of the house with tools and stole four luxury watches, several gold rings, a Minolta camera, a 32 GB iPad and a Xbox gaming system, Parrott said. Residents reported the incident after returning home Friday afternoon.
Police sent a technician to the scene to gather evidence.
