Intercepted: NU snags would-be Stanford recruit

Northwestern swiped a three-star recruit from Stanford University on Monday.

Jordan Perkins of Lodi, Calif., had made a verbal commitment to the Pac-10 powerhouse, but was still waiting on acceptance from the admissions department, the Lodi News-Sentinel reported Monday. Having already been accepted at NU, the senior running back has now issued a new verbal with the Wildcats a few weeks shy of national signing day on Feb. 2.

Though he sat out the first seven games of his senior season with an injury, Perkins wrapped up a three-year high school tenure having racked up 3,738 rushing yards and 34 touchdowns, averaging eight yards per carry, the News-Sentinel reported.

Perkins is 6 feet tall, weighs 180 pounds and has a 3.9 grade point average.
