Blotter: Tires slashed, vehicle shot, harassing phone calls

Eight taxi tires slashed by unknown subjects

An unknown number of people slashed taxi tires during the weekend, police said.Eight tires were slashed on four vehicles in a taxi fleet stationed at 1241 Pitner Ave., Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said.

The damage occurred sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Monday, police said.

Police are investigating.

Shots fired at car in Evanston on Saturday

An Evanston man’s car was shot Saturday evening, Guenther said.

The incident occurred while the man was attending a Halloween party on the 1800 block of Brown Ave. around 9 p.m., police said.

He found two bullet holes in the rear of the vehicle, and the left rear window was shattered, police said.

There were no reports of shots fired in the area, Guenther said.

Police are investigating.Staff member receives harassing phone calls

A woman has repeatedly harassed a female NU staff member during the past year, police said.

The woman first called the staff member in November 2008, McAleer said.

A police officer listened in on one of the conversations Monday. He later reported the woman would not stop talking.

The police officer told the woman not to call again before ending the call.

The officer and the victim believe the woman may have mental health issues, police said.- GRACE JOHNSON
