Bill Clinton, Gov. Pat Quinn speak at opening of Skokie holocaust museum

The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center held a grand opening outside of the museum in Skokie. Speakers included President Bill Clinton, Holocaust Survivors Elie Wiesel and Sam Harris, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and German Ambassador Klaus Scharioth.

The museum, which has been in the works for the last decade, is likely the final Holocaust Museum in the United States to be built in conjunction with survivors.

“It strikes me as not only appropriate but necessary that it is a place of both remembrance and education,” Clinton said. “Because both are necessary to truly say ‘never again.'”
