The Evanston location of Ethel’s Chocolate Lounge will close by the end of the month, a company spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
The closing is part of a larger decision by parent company Mars Inc. to end all Ethel operations in and around Chicago, said spokeswoman Alice Nathanson. Five locations, including Evanston’s, 527 Davis St., will close by the end of April. Their final site, located in Skokie’s Old Orchard Mall, will also eventually shut down.
The closings were due to the stores “under performing,” Nathanson said.
