10:40 a.m.Associated Student Government has named Medill junior Bill Pulte its new vice president and Weinberg junior Tom Smithburg as human resources director, ASG communications director Sasha Shaikh said in a press release.
Both positions were created during a contentious meeting last spring after senators voted to amend the ASG Code.
“This is a call for help from each of the four campus-wide elected officials,” McCormick junior Vikram Karandikar said during that meeting. “These are committees that need help, that need somebody in a stable role.”

ASG SELECTS VICE-PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
The Associated Student Government is excited to welcome its newly appointed Vice-President and Human Resources Director. Bill Pulte, President of Pike and a Medill junior, has been selected as Vice-President, and Tom Smithburg, former President of Delta Upsilon and WCAS junior, will be serving as Human Resources Director.
As Vice President, Pulte will be working on Executive-level initiatives set forth by the Academic, Student Services, Community Relations, and External Relations Committees.
Pulte is a small business owner, currently running Great Lake Helicopters, LLC, an aerial photography firm, (www.GreatLakeHelicopters.com) and founder and former CEO of CampusList Inc., an online college classifieds company.
As Human Resources Director, Smithburg will help to manage student involvement and improve organizational efficiency. Smithburg’s background includes consulting for a non-profit organization in Evanston and serving as a moderator for Bridging the Gap.
The Senate created both these positions last spring in an effort to increase efficiency and to expand the current capacity of ASG.
Both selections will be presenting themselves and their positions at ASG Senate on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in the Northwestern Room in Norris University Center. Senate is open to all students.
