NU Splits Top Ten Weekend (Women’s Tennis)

By Jake SimpsonThe Daily Northwestern

Two duals. Two very different outcomes.

Northwestern turned in an uneven weekend of play, blanking No. 10 Baylor 7-0 on Friday but falling 4-3 to No. 7 North Carolina yesterday at the Combe Tennis Center.

The No. 6 Wildcats moved to 6-3 on the season and have lost two of their last three contests.

“There are some recurring themes we need to address,” coach Claire Pollard said.

For only the second time this season, in the loss to North Carolina the Cats dropped the doubles point. While senior Alexis Prousis and sophomore Georgia Rose downed Sanaz Marand and Caitlin Collins 8-3, NU was unable to win either of the other two matches, falling behind early to the Tar Heels.
