Northwestern students who want to escape dining hall food in favor of more upscale fare can turn to one of several Evanston restaurants.
Although some people consider upscale to be synonymous with expensive, Susan Montgomery, manager of Chef’s Station, 915 Davis St., focuses on other aspects of the restaurant.
“It’s upscale because of the menu we have,” Montgomery said. “We call ourselves fine dining in a casual atmosphere.”
Chef’s Station, located directly under the Metra tracks, has been in its present location for six years. The menu ranges from duck to sea scallops to meatloaf.
“The atmosphere is very nice,” Montgomery said. “Even when it’s totally full in the restaurant, no one feels claustrophobic.”
The restaurant was commended by Fodor’s Travel Guides as being one of the best restaurants in Evanston and on the North Shore.
