Protests effect little change, still feel good

First things first: I oppose military action in Iraq. But that’s not really relevant to you, the reader, or to me, the writer. In fact, aside from the basic unimportance of my thoughts, actions and ideas to most people in my immediate environ, the issue of opposition to the war seems especially inessential. I keep thinking of that old joke: There can’t be a war in Iraq; nobody I know supports it. But I’m not here to talk about global injustice or the plight of an oppressed people. There are better people for that job, and rarely are they Daily columnists.
