Several Web sites post Nov. date for George Clinton concert at NU

When A&O Productions announced that Bob Dylan was playing at Northwestern on Oct. 31, most students wouldn’t have expected another major artist to come to campus this quarter.

But back the funk up. George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars might be coming to town.

Along with several fan Web sites, Clinton’s official site (www.availableentertainment.com) lists a show at NU for Nov. 16.

A&O Chairwoman Molly Allen declined to comment.

Clinton and P-Funk last played for NU students in April 1997 at the A&O Ball at the Riviera in Chicago.

Known for his fantastic costumes, elaborate stage props and groundbreaking funk, 60-year-old Clinton is still touring the country with P-Funk, a collection of members from Funkadelic and Parliament, the two groups he led to success in the 1970s.

Clinton went solo in 1982 and soon after released his biggest hit, “Atomic Dog,” which hit No. 1 on the R&B charts the next year.
