Michelle Obama’s chief of staff to speak at School of Law convocation

First lady Michelle Obama’s chief of staff will give the main convocation address May 15 at the School of Law.

Tina Tchen (Law ’84), has been the first lady’s chief of staff since 2011. Tchen also is executive director for the White House Council on Women and Girls.

She spent 13 years as a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom before joining the Obama administration.

The convocation will be Friday, May 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chicago Theatre.

Tchen has received awards from the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, the Anti-Defamation League and Chicago Lawyer magazine.
