Northwestern is one of eight midwestern universities launching a San Francisco hub to connect institution-founded startups with investors in the Bay Area.
During its two-year pilot, Third Coast Foundry will occupy a 3,500-square-foot space in San Francisco’s South Park neighborhood.
“With the creation of Third Coast Foundry, our innovators share space for inspiration, connection and creation not only with each other but also with those from partner Midwest institutions,” said Lisa Dhar, NU’s associate vice president for innovation and new ventures, in a Wednesday statement sent to The Daily.
According to a LinkedIn post by NU’s Querrey InQbation Lab, Third Coast Foundry will also host The Garage San Francisco, which currently offers resources, programming and networking opportunities for NU alumni.
For the initiative, NU partnered with Carnegie Mellon University, The Ohio State University, Purdue University, University of Chicago, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Wisconsin-Madison and Washington University in St. Louis.
