More than half of Northwestern’s Class of 2030 were admitted Dec. 16 as part of the University’s early admission, according to a letter sent that day from Dean of Undergraduate Admission Liz Kinsley to college counselors.
The pool consisted of more than 5,600 applicants, a roughly seven percent decrease in the number of early decision applications compared to the Class of 2029.
Next year’s freshmen class represents all 50 states, Puerto Rico and more than 65 countries. More students from rural areas and more international students applied, Kinsley wrote in her letter.
She highlighted that more than 16% of the newly admitted Class of 2030 are first-generation students.
The University reviewed over 2,000 applicants through the QuestBridge program, admitting nine percent of the Class of 2030 as Quest Scholars.
As part of the admission cycle, NU introduced an optional supplement known as “Dialogues” that offered applicants the opportunity to have civil discussions about political and cultural issues.
NU’s regular decision results will be available in late March.
