Northwestern sent runners to a pair of meets in different time zones this weekend, with Wildcats competing in Seattle, Washington, and Chicago.
Thousands of miles away from each other, junior Ava Earl and sophomore Skye Ellis both scored second in their respective races.
Earl cut 20 seconds off her personal record with an exceptional 9:05.65 in the 3000m race at the University of Washington Invitational, while Ellis dashed to a 4:51.53 mile at the Blue Demon Alumni Classic.
Close on Ellis’s tail were graduate student Rachel Sessa and freshman Jackie Holman, in fourth and fifth with 4:55.94 and 4:56.73, respectively. Also, at Blue Demon in Chicago were freshman Ava Criniti and graduate student Pippa Nuttall, who came in eighth and ninth in the 3000m race, with a scalding 9:46.74 and 9:47.26, respectively.
Way over on the West Coast, graduate student Kalea Bartolotto zoomed her way to fifth in the 5000m with a 16:29.89 time.
NU will take next weekend off, but on Feb. 9, the ‘Cats will be back on the road at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
