Just three days after head coach David Braun reportedly brought in Zach Lujan as offensive coordinator, Northwestern parted ways with offensive line coach Kurt Anderson, The Inside Zone’s Matt Fortuna reported Wednesday.

Anderson has served as the Wildcats’ offensive line coach since 2019, assuming the role after joining NU as a quality control analyst in 2018. During his tenure in Evanston, Anderson coached two linemen selected in the NFL Draft’s first round — Peter Skoronski and Rashawn Slater — along with several All-Big Ten honorees.
Since Skoronski’s departure to the professional ranks in 2023, the ‘Cats struggled to protect their quarterbacks, especially in their early season slate. Allowing 51 sacks in 13 games left NU ranked dead last in the Big Ten.
Prior to his time with the ‘Cats, Anderson held coaching positions at four different colleges and was an assistant offensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2013 to 2015.
Braun said Lujan will have a say in naming Anderson’s successor at Wednesday’s Bear Bryant Coach of the Year press conference. He added that his staff will likely be finalized in the coming weeks.
“Our new offensive coordinator is going to be involved in the O-line decision and how we move forward,” Braun said.
