Tinashe announced as mainstage performer at 50th Dillo Day
May 10, 2022
Tinashe will perform at this year’s Dillo Day, Mayfest Productions announced Tuesday.
“I was skeptical of angel numbers and star signs, but Tinashe’s music converted me — I’m an Aquarius, and a believer now,” Talent Buyer Jack Ding said in a news release. “I couldn’t be more excited to see her at Dillo.”
Dillo Day, the nation’s largest student-run music festival, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. To commemorate the festival’s origins, this year’s theme is “Return to the Rodeo.”
Named on Forbes’s 30 Under 30 Music list this year, Tinashe is a vocalist, producer, songwriter, dancer, actor and model. Since 2014, the R&B and pop artist has released six studio albums, most recently 2021’s “333.” Her early hit singles included “All Hands on Deck” and “2 On,” the latter of which spent 24 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.
Tinashe has collaborated with a variety of artists, including Britney Spears, A$AP Rocky and last year’s Dillo Day performer Kaytranada. The artist has amassed more than 2.9 billion streams over her career and more than 500 million Youtube views.
“Tinashe is an artist whose music has been an integral part of our collective teenage years. ‘2 On’ alone is enough to pull me out of a slump,” Talent Buyer Skylar Deeter said in the release. “Her stage presence and starpower is unmatched, and I can’t wait to see this icon in action at Dillo.”
Dillo Day tickets are free for undergraduate students, $15 for undergraduate guests and $25 for Northwestern alumni and graduate students. Tickets can be reserved through the Norris Box Office website.
