Police charged a woman with domestic battery Wednesday in connection with an incident that occurred Jan. 22.

A man called police to the 1800 block of Sherman Avenue soon after his sister assaulted him, Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said. The man, a resident of Cary, Illinois, said he went to check on his mother who had recently fallen. The 56-year-old man told officers his mother lives with his sister in Evanston.

The man said an altercation ensued when he arrived to the house. He said his sister, a 60-year-old Evanston resident, began “kneeing him, hitting him, and slapping him in the face,” Glew said. The man was not able to call the police until the woman fled the scene at 11:39 a.m. on Jan. 22.

Police were unable to find her for the next two days, according to the arrest report. Police arrested the woman on Wednesday at 10:50 p.m. at her home.

Police charged the woman with one count of domestic battery.
