Blotter: Woman charged with battery

Syd Stone, Assistant City Editor

A woman filed a battery report last month at her workplace in downtown Evanston.

The 56-year-old Evanston resident told officers she had an altercation March 18 with a 65-year-old female coworker with whom she shares office space on the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue. Evanston Police Department spokesman Perry Polinski said the two had a verbal argument over tables that had been set up in the common hallway. The interaction escalated to physical contact after the coworker shoved the 56-year-old, Polinski said.

There were no injuries, and the woman who was shoved did not wish to pursue charges at the time of the report, Polinski said.

However, a Detective Bureau investigator later followed up on the report, Polinski said. The women then decided to file a complaint. The 65-year-old voluntarily turned herself into the police station and was charged with battery.

Her court date is set for April 28.
