A 17-year-old Evanston male was shot Thursday afternoon at around 2:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue.

Officers responded to a call from the victim, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the lower leg and was taken to Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave. His injuries were non-life threatening, Dugan added.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are still collecting evidence. Officers are searching for witnesses, and there are no suspects at this time, Dugan said.
