A 22-year-old man was arrested around 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 1900 block of Darrow Avenue in connection with possession of cannabis.

The man’s vehicle had expired plates and officers discovered that his plates, located on an Audi, actually belonged to a Pontiac, said Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan. Officers tried to stop him but he did not pull over for half a block. When he finally stopped, he threw a green, leafy substance out the window.

Police found 13 grams of cannabis, 2.3 grams of loose cannabis, a pipe and a digital scale in the man’s vehicle, Dugan said. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 11.

Garage broken into on Davis Street

An 83-year-old Evanston man reported that his garage, located in the 1000 block of Davis Street, had been broken into early Wednesday morning.

The man said he heard a window pane in the garage being broken by a brick. There was damage to the door as well, Dugan said. There were no pry marks and nothing was stolen due to the small size of the broken window.

There are no suspects, Dugan added.
