One Northwestern student interning in Brussels, Belgium, checked in safe Tuesday morning following bombings at the main airport and a subway station in the city, an NU official said.

Only one NU student was in Belgium this quarter, said Julie Anne Friend, director of NU’s Office of Global Safety and Security, in an email to The Daily. There has been no discussion of withdrawing students from Belgium or elsewhere in Europe, Friend said.

At least 30 people were killed in the attacks and dozens were wounded, according to The New York Times. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the bombings.
