More than $10,000 in goods stolen from apartments

Two burglaries occurred in a south Evanston apartment building Wednesday.

About $10,000 worth of goods were stolen from the unit of a 26-year-old Evanston woman, including a Lenovo laptop, a MacBook Pro computer, a 100-year-old pink-gold ring with three diamonds in it and other assorted jewelry, police said.

About $350 worth of items were stolen from the other apartment, located in the same building in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue, Evanston police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said in an email to The Daily.

The items stolen from the 30-year-old Evanston man include a North Face jacket, eight brown Coach wallets and a pair of Nike shoes, police said.

Parrott wrote that both burglaries occurred on the same floor of the building and there was forced entry through the front doors of both apartments. Detectives are investigating the two incidents, and an evidence technician processed both apartments.
