Women’s rights activist Lilly Ledbetter appears at Democratic fundraiser in Evanston

Women’s rights activist Lilly Ledbetter helped raise money for Democratic House candidates Sunday morning in Evanston.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee benefited from the fundraiser, which was held at 10 a.m. at the home of Democratic political consultants Pete Giangreco and Laura Tucker. Illinois Democratic Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Cheri Bustos and Tammy Duckworth also appeared at the event.

An invitation suggested attendees donate $500.

The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act was the first piece of legislation signed by President Barack Obama on Jan. 29, 2009. The law makes it easier to file equal-pay lawsuits.
