Freshman superback Dan Vitale has two catches for 14 yards. His first-quarter touchdown reception gave Northwestern a 7-3 lead.

Northwestern got a late touchdown pass from sophomore Trevor Siemian to junior Tony Jones to take a 14-10 lead against Nebraska heading into this afternoon’s halftime intermission.

The Wildcats forced three fumbles in the first half, including two on muffed punts, which led to the Cats’ first touchdown of the game. The NU offense is struggling, however, with only 107 yards in the first half hour.

Nebraska’s only touchdown came on a long pass from Taylor Martinez to Kenny Bell and briefly gave the Cornhuskers a 10-7 lead. They opened the game with an eight-play, 65-yard drive that ended in a field goal. After Nebraska’s first muffed punt, NU capitalized on a 10-yard pass from Siemian to freshman superback Dan Vitale.

The Cats’ defense has played well, contributing two sacks and giving up only 70 yards rushing. However, the Cornhuskers have 156 yards through the air.
