Pat Fitzgerald announced Monday the addition of defensive back Quinn Evans as a transfer who will be eligible to play for Northwestern in 2012.
Evans graduated from Stanford this month and decided to transfer after missing all of the 2011 seasons due to injury. After taking a redshirt his freshman year, the senior made 13 tackles in 20 games for the Cardinal over the next two seasons as a special teams contributor and cornerback.
“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to finish my college football and academic careers at Northwestern,” Evans said in a statement. “My visit to campus and the relationships I’ve developed with Coach Fitzgerald and other members of the Northwestern football program have left no doubt that NU is the right fit for me at this time. I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates at the start of camp and contributing any way I can to our success this season.”
Evans will join the 21 other members of the Wildcats’ 2012 class and junior Kyle Prater, a transfer wide receiver from Southern California who is still awaiting a ruling on his eligibility for 2012 from the NCAA.
