Northwestern picked up a commitment Tuesday from offensive lineman Blake King, according to PurpleWildcats.com. The 6-4, 250-pound junior at Minooka High School is from just over an hour away from Evanston and told Scout he knew he was going to be a Wildcat, but needed to wait to hear about his ACT score and get a subsequent offer.
“The first time I went (to Northwestern) and visited, it was just completely the opposite from all the other places I have been,” he told PurpleWildcats.com. “As soon as they started recruiting me, I knew I wanted to go there, I had my mind set on Northwestern.
King is not ranked on Scout’s star system and reported offers from Toledo and Western Michigan. He is NU’s second commitment for the class of 2013 and also the second Chicago-area prospect, as the Cats picked up 4-star Maine South quarterback Matt Alviti in April.
