Man charged with cocaine possession
Evanston police arrested a Chicago resident in connection with driving with a suspended license as well as drug possession on Wednesday.
Police stopped the 48-year-old in the 1100 block of Judson Avenue and learned during the ensuing investigation that the man had a suspended license, said Evanston Police Department spokesman Cmdr. Jay Parrott. Police also found 1.8 grams of cocaine in a bag at the driver’s foot.
The man will appear in court May 1.
Thief steals $5,500 ring
A 69-year-old Evanston resident reported that her $5,500 ring was stolen Wednesday.
The unknown thief allegedly removed the ring from a bathroom cabinet in the woman’s residence in the 400 block of Greenwood Street, Parrott said. The woman said a cleaning service had been in her house on Wednesday before she realized her ring was missing. The house showed no signs of forced entry. Police are currently investigating the case.
