Freshman guard Morgan Jones will transfer from Northwestern after starting for the Wildcats for a majority of the past season, the athletic department announced Wednesday.
“Although I am disappointed Morgan is leaving our program, I wish her nothing but the best,” coach Joe McKeown said in a statement. “She is a first-class individual. Our Northwestern basketball family wishes her only success as she continues her education and basketball career.”
The Altamonte Springs, Fla., native was an All-American in high school and ranked as the No. 9 prospect for the class of 2011, according to ESPN. She averaged 13.9 points per game on 31.5 percent shooting and 33.6 minutes per game this season for NU.
Jones announced on her Twitter account that she will be visiting Louisiana State, Kentucky and Florida State “within the next couple weeks.” However, she will complete the academic year at NU.
