Trader Joe’s is coming to Evanston, the city announced Friday in a news release.
The specialty grocery store will be at the former Blockbuster Video store, 1211 Chicago Ave., near the Dempster CTA stop.
“The development of this site into a new Trader Joe’s is yet another sign that Evanston’s economic health is definitely on the upswing,” Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl said in the news release.
A press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the former Blockbuster site. Ald. Melissa Wynne (3rd), whose ward will include the new store, will be in attendance along with other city officials.
