Blotter: Feb. 9

iPad stolen from downtown store

Someone stole an Apple iPad from Audio Consultants, 1014 Davis St., sometime between Jan. 31 and Feb. 4.

Evanston Police Department spokesman Cmdr. Jay Parrott said the iPad, worth about $600, was taken from a display case inside the store that was “not secure” and did not contain a lock.

“It was most likely taken when the store was open for business,” Parrott said.

The store knows the serial number of the device, which increases the likelihood that it could be recovered in the future. Parrott said if another law enforcement officer finds the item and looks up the serial number, it can be determined that the iPad was stolen in Evanston.

Police disrupt possible drug deal in south Evanston

Officers on patrol in the 700 block of Dobson Street observed what they believe was a “possible narcotics transaction” occurring in a vehicle early Wednesday morning.

When officers approached the vehicle, two male passengers ran away and were eventually chased down and arrested at 120 Custer Ave.

One of the men, a 31-year-old Evanston resident, was charged with disobedience to police and disturbing the peace after refusing to calm down and shouting profanities.

The other man, a 28-year-old Evanston resident, was also charged with disturbing the peace.

Both men will appear in court March 23.
