A Northwestern student was rushed to Evanston Hospital after his bicycle collided with a car in front of the Patten Gym parking lot Saturday, according to University Police.
“Upon arrival on the scene, our officers observed a victim lying on the ground, conscious but disoriented,” Assistant Chief Daniel McAleer said.
Another student who witnessed the accident around 5:30 p.m. described the car as “moving pretty slow” when it struck the biker.
The observer added neither the cyclist nor the driver seemed aware of each other before impact.
A large trash bin sits at the entrance to the parking lot, obstructing the view of exiting vehicles to pedestrians and bikers as they travel south on Sheridan Road.
Evanston Police and the Evanston Fire Department also responded to the scene of the accident, 2407 Sheridan Road.
