Central Street Sam’s Club employee charged with stealing more than $300 worth of items from store
Evanston police charged Sam’s Club employee Christopher Mihun on Tuesday with stealing $324.04 worth of items from the store where he worked, police said.
A loss prevention agent at Sam’s Club, 2450 Main St., reported food, liquor, clothes, DVDs and two Xbox game stations missing June 6, EPD Cmdr. Tom Guenther said. Surveillance cameras in the store showed two employees hiding the items in a store display and later removing them from the store.
Mihun, 25, confessed to the crime when police interviewed him Tuesday at his home in Morton Grove, Guenther said. Police then arrested him.
The second employee has not yet been arrested, Guenther said.
Frank Govern Memorial Golf Course employee steals business, financial data on computer hard drive
An employee of the Frank Govern Memorial Golf Course stole business and financial records from the golf course’s office Tuesday, police said.
The employee had been suspended from work and was not allowed on the golf course property, Guenther said. But the employee entered the office, 1031 Central St., took apart a computer and left with its hard drive, which contained the records.
Police are still investigating, Guenther said.
Police catch suspects in armed robbery in Rogers Park after victims wave down officers on patrol
Evanston police arrested three men accused of armed robbery in Rogers Park on Thursday, according to a news release.
Three people waved down officers on patrol at 1:20 a.m. Thursday and said they had been robbed at gunpoint near the Tasty Sub restaurant at 2001 W. Howard St., according to the release.
Police searched the area on foot and found three men who matched the description of the robbers. The men fled, but police chased them into a park and caught them. The people who had reported the crime identified them as the robbers.
After more searching, police found the stolen money and a revolver in the 200 block of Custer Street.
The men – Jeremy Starling, 20, of Evanston; Akeem Brackenridge, 19, of Skokie and Steven Little, 19, of Evanston – will appear in court June 24.
