CollegeHumor selected as A&O winter speaker

A&O Productions will bring the comedic team CollegeHumor Live to campus as its second winter speaker following Aziz Ansari.

The group, featuring Anthony Jeselnik, Amir Blumenfeld, Jeff Rubin, Streeter Seidell and Dan Gurewitch, will perform in Cahn Auditorium March 3 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Feb. 28 and will cost $10 for undergraduates. Each undergraduate student may purchase two tickets. Maximum capacity in Cahn will be around 900.

CollegeHumor Live is a touring team from the popular website CollegeHumor.com, known for producing online videos and articles including “Jake and Amir,” “Very Mary-Kate” and its most-viewed video of all time, “Realistic Hollywood Sex Scene.”

Communication senior Stefanie Goliszewski, co-director of promotions and public relations for A&O, said CollegeHumor was “very popular” in A&O’s January poll and was easier to book than Ansari.

Weinberg junior Max Brawer, a member of A&O’s speakers committee, also spoke to the group’s popularity in the winter poll.

“CollegeHumor Live is one the most popular options we’ve had for the show in a while,” he said. “We’re always trying to sell out a show and appeal to as much of the school as possible.”

He said poll results for the group were “pretty much a record in terms of popularity.”

Both CollegeHumor Live and Ansari “have that strong recognition,” Goliszewski said. “CollegeHumor is a great brand name.”

Tickets for Ansari’s performance sold out in two hours. Goliszewski said tickets for this performance likely won’t be similar, but she still expects strong sales.

Brawer said A&O is “really excited” for the show.

When asked what students should expect, he said, “The live show can be different every time so it’s hard to say for sure. It should be a nice mix of stand-up and multimedia.”

Communication junior Rebecca Montag said she plans to attend.

“I used to watch ‘Jake and Amir,’ but I don’t that much any more,” she said.

Weinberg sophomore Ajay Haryani said he attended Ansari’s show and “thought it was awesome.” He also plans to attend this event because he finds the CollegeHumor website “really entertaining.”

“I think it’ll be a little different,” he said. “I’m not sure exactly how they do this type of show, but I have high expectations.”
